Youth Program
Under the umbrella of the Youth Program, the IIHR team is offering various events for the youth at local, national, and international levels. These events include workshops, seminars, conferences, festivals, fairs, competitions, etc. Some of these events can be found below. Click on each of them to learn more.
World Junior Programmers (WJunP)
World Junior Programmers (WJunP) is an amazing initiative in which children and adolescents will have fun experiences while learning and mastering coding and programming. WJunP is a lab-based program for empowering kids and the youth to have better control over their virtual world. In this program, the students will work in computer labs, learning and working in cohorts of 7-12 and groups of 10 (on average). They will learn syntax and practice and will apply their learning in various mini projects. They will be empowered as junior programmers who are able to control their virtual world. The WJunP is also proud to have youth volunteers who have already taken and mastered many or all of these levels. The ultimate goal of the program is to empower the kids and the youth as junior programmers. This program has been running since 2016. Youth Evidence Based Practice (YEBP)
Youth Evidence Based Practice (YEBP) is an initiative that brings Evidence Based Practice to the youth level and teaches them what EBP is and how to use evidence (research findings) to make evidence based decisions and, as a result, to act based on this evidence. This is one of the most important skills that is widely expected of people as they enter the workforce. It is crucial to introduce these fundamental concepts at an early age, before bad habits are ingrained and it becomes difficult to learn new ways to evaluate best practice. This initiative follows two broad goals: (a) to promote evidence based practice and to start this promotion from a younger age rather than at an adult age where many have already started their careers, and (b) to empower the youth to use evidence-based decision making and evidence-based practice as a normal practice in their daily life. This will help the youth to have better control over determinants of their health, which is the very definition of health promotion. Therefore, starting-evidence based practice among the youth will lead to a better infrastructure and capacity among them for evidence-based practice in the workplace, as well as in health promotion since they will learn how to use evidence for making their decisions instead of merely relying on their peers or other lay people’s conventional wisdom on the best way to handle various situations.
