About the workshop:
As a junior researcher, you will develop knowledge and skills of simple research methodology in health service. You will be empowered about development, implementation and evaluation of health service researches in a very basic level. In this complete package, you will start with Bronze Junior Researcher. At this level, you will learn basic principles of research, as well as research/ evidence-based practice. You will learn how to write a simple research proposal, then you will develop data collection tools and then you will implement your research and report it as a poster presentation or as a simple article. At the silver level, you will start learning how to compete for grants, awards and scholarships, receive money for your research project, you will receive funding for your research project and then you will learn how to manage it and use the money you received in doing your research. At Gold level, you will evaluate other junior researchers’ projects, mark them and decide if you will fund their research. This way, you will learn how a researcher’s life functions.
Learning objectives:
After completion of this workshop, you will improve your knowledge and skills about:
- Process of Health Service Research
- Research proposal development
- Data collection tools and data collection
- Data analysis using software
- Reporting your research as poster and/ or article
- Using reference managers in writing your research report
- Applying for funding for your research (writing grant proposals, letter of intents or LOIs, applying for scholarships and awards)
- Budget management for the research projects
- Evaluating and criticizing a research proposal
- Sitting in research grant decision making committees (evaluating grant proposals)
Participants: High School students.
Duration: 4 Days (as Research Camp or four weekend days)
Location: IIHR- Vancouver

Evaluation: Developing and conducting simple research project, competing for and receiving funding for research project, managing research budgent, evaluating research proposals in grant committees.
Certificate: Certificate of completion will be issued by the International Institute for Health Research (IIHR).
